We are so pleased to announce that Doddie Weir, 1988 SMC leaver, has received an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List.  Congratulations Doddie!

Weir has become an OBE for services to rugby, MND research and to the community in the Scottish Borders. He said it was a "great honour" to receive the award. You can read more about Doddie's reaction here

ESMS Principal, Linda Moule, stated that "Stewart’s Melville College is proud of all that Doddie has achieved over his illustrious rugby career, which began when he played as an amateur for both Melrose RFC and later for Stewart’s Melville RFC. He is an inspiration to all Stew Mel boys."

"ESMS is delighted to support the foundation Doddie has established to raise funds and awareness for MND: our upcoming charity gala event 'ESMS Dinner for Doddie' will take place on Friday, 1 February at the National Museum of Scotland, with the aim of raising funds to be split between the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and Access to Excellence."

The Dinner for Doddie digital auction is now open to the whole ESMS Community, even if you weren't able to get a ticket for the dinner. If you'd like to join our efforts and support Doddie and the school, please visit www.jumblebee.co.uk/esmsdinnerfordoddie where you will be able to bid on any of the unique items and experiences that have been kindly donated.
