Young Writers' Award for Madison Rennie

Posted on 24th Sep 2014 in Sixth Form, Awards

Congratulations to Madison Rennie in S6 who won the Scottish Book Trust's Young Writers' Award for 2014. Madison's entry was a short story entitled 'Blank 17', which she originally wrote for her Higher folio. The prize for this prestigious award is a writer's retreat at Moniack Mohr where Madison will take part in workshops with guest writers, and have the opportunity to work with this year's Young Writers Awards mentor, Kirsty Logan. Kirsty is an award-winning and widely-published writer of short stories and journalism. Her first collection The Rental Heart and Other Fairytales, was published by Salt in 2014.  Her second book, The Gracekeepers, will be published by Harvill Secker in Spring 2015. Madison was also a finalist in the National Galleries 'Inspired? Get Writing' competition last Spring so she has proved herself to be writer full of promise.

Well done Madison!
