Administration Assistant (Academic Support) - Closing 15 December

We are seeking to appoint an Administration Assistant (Academic Support) to join The Mary Erskine School Office on a permanent basis as soon as possible (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks).

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator who is highly organised, with excellent communication skills and a proven track record of working in an office. The candidate will be able to multi-task and prioritise their own workload with good attention to the highest standards of accuracy. It is essential that the candidate is independent, self-motivated and has the ability to work as part of a team with full respect for confidentiality. The school office is a busy environment and all members of the team are required to use their initiative, dealing with walk-in or phone enquiries from members of staff, pupils, parents and members of the public.

This is a permanent, full-time position for 36.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm with 45 minutes unpaid for lunch). The salary range is £29,226 - £32,001 on the ESMS Support Staff Salary Scale G, dependent upon relevant experience and qualifications.

e-Plus Playworkers – Open Vacancy

We are currently recruiting for e-Plus Playworkers in the ESMS Junior School. Working within an enthusiastic and dynamic team, successful candidates will be responsible for the out of school care of boys and girls aged from Nursery to 12 years based at either Queensferry Road or Ravelston.  Positions are available immediately, subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.

We are currently offering Monday to Friday positions. Hours of work will be between 1:30pm and 6:00pm or 3.00pm and 6.00pm (depending on site) during term time and on a rota basis during holiday periods. Remuneration will be dependent on qualifications and experience. The desirable candidate will be available for 5 days per week, however candidates available 4 consecutive days per week will also be considered.

Unqualified e-Plus Playworkers will be paid on ESMS e-Plus Scale point 8-11 (£10.95 - £11.79 per hour). Qualified e-Plus Playworkers will be paid on ESMS e-Plus Scale point 13-16 (£12.18 - £12.95 per hour). With a range of additional benefits.

Sports Attendant (Queensferry Road) – Open Vacancy

The ESMS Sports Centre at Queensferry Road are recruiting for 2 Sports Attendants to join our staff on a permanent basis as soon as possible (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks).

The centre is part of the Ravelston Sports Club, a members club serving the community of ESMS Schools. Membership is open to School pupils, staff and the families of these groups. We also, offer community membership for residents within the local area.

On a day-to-day basis as a Sports Attendant, you will be responsible for acting as first point of contact for our customers, creating a welcoming environment and helping our customers to get the best experience on every visit.

Positions 1 and 2:

Hours of work may vary from week to week, however we can anticipate the postholder will be contracted for an average of 19 hours per week, on a 2-week rotational shifts. Working hours are between Monday and Sunday between the hours of 8.30am and 10.30pm (longest shift 8.30am to 4.30pm with 30 minutes unpaid for lunch and shortest shift 2.30pm to 8.30pm). The successful candidate will have 2 consecutive days off each week. (Example shifts can be found in the document attached Example shifts). Remuneration will be on the ESMS Support Staff Salary Scale C which is £10.68 - £10.95 per hour and is depending upon experience and qualifications. All salaries are reviewed on 1st April annually.

Cleaning Operatives - Open Vacancy

Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools (ESMS) are recruiting for part time cleaning positions to join our friendly and committed cleaning team on a permanent and temporary basis. The postholders will work across the Queensferry Road and Ravelston sites.

We have a cleaning team of 42 operatives a number of whom have worked at ESMS for over 15 years. Our teams are passionate, pioneering and strive for excellence in everything they do. Our positions are available immediately (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The hours of work are:

  • Cleaning Operative 1: Temporary position, Monday to Friday from 3.30pm to 8.30pm, a paid working week of 25 hours. Rate of pay is £10.63 per hour.
  • Cleaning Operative 2: Permanent position, Monday to Friday from 3.30pm to 8.30pm, a paid working week of 25 hours. Rate of pay is £10.63 per hour.
  • Cleaning Operative 3: Temporary position, Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm, a paid working week of 20 hours. Rate of pay is £10.63 per hour.

The Junior School at Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools (ESMS) are recruiting for Teacher Assistants to join our bank of supply staff.

The ESMS Junior School is a large, co-educational, independent junior school of approximately 1250 children who become members of either The Mary Erskine School (MES) or Stewart’s Melville College (SMC) when they finish Primary 7.

The Junior School has excellent facilities of its own as well as sharing those of the two senior schools. The ethos of the school is that each child’s individuality is nurtured within a structured and disciplined framework.
