Administrative Assistant

We require an Administrative Assistant for this full-time, permanent post in the Junior School Office on the Queensferry Road site from Wednesday 3 January 2018.  The successful candidate will carry out administrative tasks, typing of correspondence, and assist with other work within the Junior School office, including the provision of specific and regular support for the work of the Admissions Secretary.  The post would ideally suit someone with a high level of competence in using Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Outlook and Excel), the ability to be flexible and work as part of a team within a busy environment, and excellent interpersonal skills.

ESMS Junior School Assistant Head Teacher

Assistant Head Teacher - Head of Pastoral Care for Primary 4 to Primary 7

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Head Teacher position with particular responsibility for the pastoral care of approx. 700 children across Primary 4 to Primary 7 on our Queensferry Road site from August 2018. This is a significant post in the management structure of the ESMS Junior School and the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of this crucially important aspect of school life. The successful candidate will be expected to play a significant role in the further development and enhancement of the high standards expected of all members of our school community.

Head of Modern Languages

A Head of Modern Languages is required from August 2018, on the retirement of Mike Hamid after 31 years of distinguished service, to lead a very successful Department. Candidates will be well qualified graduates and experienced teachers, who combine leadership qualities with management skills and enthusiasm for their subjects. Applicants should be registered, or eligible for registration, with the GTC Scotland. 

Stewart's Melville College is linked to The Mary Erskine School in a unique arrangement whereby the schools’ Sixth Forms are twinned. Both schools are governed by the Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools’ Governing Council.

The schools' wraparound care services continue to expand and we are always interested to hear from those who are interested to work in our evolving Early Morning, After School and Holiday Clubs. Working within an enthusiastic and dynamic team, staff are responsible for the out of school care of boys and girls aged from 3 to 7 years, based on The Mary Erskine School campus at Ravelston, or with those aged 8 to 12 years, based on the Stewart's Melville College campus at Queensferry Road.
