Cleaner (Maternity Cover)

We are recruiting for a Cleaner (maternity cover) to join the friendly and committed cleaning team at Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools (ESMS) on a temporary basis. The postholder will be based at The Mary Erskine School at Ravelston but may on occasion be required to work at The Stewart’s Melville College campus.

The position is available immediately until 18 February 2022 for 20 hours per week. The postholder will be contracted to work 20 hours per week. The working pattern will be Monday to Friday, 3.30pm to 7.30pm.

The starting salary for this role will be on the ESMS B6 Salary Scale point for Support Staff (£8.98 per hour/£9,339 per annum), with a range of additional benefits.

Archivist

Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools (ESMS) are seeking to appoint an Archivist to develop and deliver on strategic projects for our archival collections.

The role will oversee a number of projects on physical and digital archival collections in ESMS. The postholder should have previous archival experience, and a qualification in archives or records management recognised by the Archives & Records Association (ARA) would be desirable. They will need to have an interest in history, with good attention to detail and analytical thinking skills. Excellent communication skills (orally and in writing) are required as the postholder will work closely with a number of internal and external stakeholders.

This is a term time only, permanent position available from 10 January 2022. The post is full time and the hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm with 45 minutes unpaid for lunch each day. The postholder will be contracted for 36.25 hours per week.

Sports Attendants

We are recruiting for Casual Sports Attendants at Stewart’s Melville College. Sports Attendants have an important role to play in maintaining a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for customers. The postholder will be involved in all aspects of the activities taking place at the Sports Centre. The role will involve communicating with all kinds of people: children, adults, parents, teachers, staff, and colleagues. The postholder will demonstrate a keen interest in sport and a genuine interest in helping others.  A lifeguarding qualification (minimum NPLQ) and coaching or fitness qualifications are desirable. 

The starting salary for this role will be on the ESMS B6 Salary Scale point for Support Staff (£8.98 per hour), with a range of additional benefits. The position is available immediately and the postholder will work on a casual basis in agreement with the Sports Centre Manager.

Supply Teacher Assistants

Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools (ESMS) Junior School are recruiting for Teacher Assistants to join our bank of supply staff.

The ESMS Junior School is a large, co-educational, independent junior school of approximately 1250 children who become members of either The Mary Erskine School (MES) or Stewart’s Melville College (SMC) when they finish Primary 7. The Junior School has excellent facilities of its own as well as sharing those of the two senior schools.

The Nursery and Primary 1-3 classrooms in the Junior School are situated within the grounds of The Mary Erskine School at Ravelston, and Primary 4-7 children are based within the grounds of Stewart’s Melville College on Queensferry Road.

After School and Holiday Club Playworkers (Ravelston)

We are recruiting for temporary After School and Holiday Club Playworkers in the ESMS Junior School. Working within an enthusiastic and dynamic team, successful candidates will be responsible for the out of school care of boys and girls aged from 5 to 7 years based at Ravelston.  Positions are available from November 2021.

We require staff to work during term time in After School Club from 1.30 pm to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, a maximum of 22.5 hours per week, and 26.25 hours per week during holiday periods. The salary range is £11,397 - £12,948 (pro-rata) per annum, which is at point C of the ESMS Support Staff Salary Scales, dependent on experience and qualifications.

These are part-time temporary positions available from November 2021 to 30 June 2022.

After School and Holiday Club Playworkers (Queensferry Road)

We are recruiting for temporary After School and Holiday Club Playworkers in the ESMS Junior School. Working within an enthusiastic and dynamic team, successful candidates will be responsible for the out of school care of boys and girls aged from 8 to 12 years based at Queensferry Road. Positions are available from August 2021.

We require staff to work during term time in After School Club from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, a maximum of 15 hours per week, and 26.25 hours per week during holiday periods. The salary range is £8,664 - £9,840 (pro-rata) per annum, which is at point C of the ESMS Support Staff Salary Scales, dependent on experience and qualifications.

These are part-time, temporary positions available from 23 August 2021. This contract is due to end on 31 December 2021 with a review and possible extension to June 2022.
