Building confidence, integrity and respect through sport

A wide variety of sporting opportunities is available at the ESMS family of schools and we believe that physical activity is for everyone all the way from Nursery to Sixth Form. In Nursery we have specialist teachers for PE, as we do throughout ESMS Junior School. The boys and girls in our Junior School also have the chance to learn and compete in 10 different sports in local and national tournaments and competitions including  rugby, football, hockey and cricket for both boys and girls.

The boys and girls of Stewart's Melville College (SMC) and The Mary Erskine School (MES) are very proud of our sporting traditions. Former Pupils have gone on to become professional sportsmen and women, Olympians, British Lions and international medal winners and their success is an inspiration to the boys and girls who are still in school and who regularly represent their country and city in sports such as rugby, hockey, golf, tennis and football.

While we have a culture of sporting excellence which includes many local and national successes at the very highest level, sport is encouraged at all levels in school. Our large number of teams means that boys and girls who simply want to play a particular sport and to be a member of a team  enjoy opportunities which would not be available to them at a smaller school.

ESMS also offer excellent sports facilities including a large swimming pool, tennis courts, cricket squares, rugby and hockey pitches and floodlit AstroTurfs.
