SMC Boys Star in Summer of Success for Grange Cricket Club

Posted on 28th Aug 2014 in Stewart's Melville College, Sport

The Grange U13 cricket squad enjoyed a fantastic summer in 2014 with SMC boys making up the backbone of the squad from P7 through to S2.

The squad won both of the National U13 Cup competitions. Grange then went on to represent Scotland in the England and Wales Cricket Board competition and won their place in the best 12 Club teams in the whole of the UK, beating the Cheshire Champions during the Northern Finals Day in Liverpool and only losing out narrowly to the Yorkshire Champions.

Grange also entered an U12 team in the Shrewsbury School Cricket Festival this year and finished in a record high position, winning 5 out of the 6 games. This was again a fantastic outcome given Grange as a Club team were playing against streamed County opposition. Grange defeated Derbyshire twice as well as Northamptonshire losing out only to Shropshire, the eventual Champions. Charlie Peet (P6) won an individual award as 'all-rounder' of the Festival.

From all the coaches, congratulations to the whole squad who performed to a high standard throughout the season.

S2: Ben Davidson, Ross Johnston, Bahauddin Ali, Will Tweedie, Hector McIntosh

S1: Freddie Peet, Finlay Campbell, Brodie Miller, Oliver Rees

P7: Charlie Peet, Conrad Derbyshire, Viv Tiwari
