Teacher of Biology (Maternity cover)

The Mary Erskine School is seeking to appoint a temporary, full-time Teacher of Biology to cover a period of maternity leave from 31 October 2022 until 30 June 2023. The postholder will be required to teach at all levels up to Advanced Higher and a willingness to contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme is also essential. Remuneration will be on the ESMS A scale (£30,987 - £44,877 per annum), which is above that paid in the state sector to reflect commitment to the extra-curricular programme and is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Assistant Head of Rugby

This is a permanent, full-time position for 36.25 hours per week. Weekly hours may be variable depending on coaching/games sessions but are generally within normal school operating hours (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, and Saturday 9.30am-12.00pm). Flexibility may on occasion be required due to the nature of the role (start and end times of sessions may vary). The postholder will be required to attend games and fixtures (at home and away) on Saturday mornings.

The salary range is £29,571 to £32,754 per annum (ESMS Support Staff H Scale), and appointment will be dependent upon relevant experience.

PE and Sports Assistant

The Mary Erskine School is seeking to appoint a temporary, part time PE and Sports Assistant to join the school from 22 August 2022 to 30 June 2023 (the 2022-23 academic session).

The postholder will be required to assist the PE department in their curricular and extra-curricular activities. Involvement with Saturday morning sports fixtures is a requirement of the role.

This is a part time position for 36 hours per week during term time. The FTE salary range is £17,436 to £18,153 per annum (ESMS Support Staff Salary Scales B6 to C8), and appointment will be dependent upon relevant experience. As this is a part time, term time only role, the salary range will be £14,985 to £15,600 per annum.

After School and Holiday Club Playworkers (Ravelston) - Open Vacancy

We are currently recruiting for permanent After School and Holiday Club Playworkers in the ESMS Junior School. Working within an enthusiastic and dynamic team, successful candidates will be responsible for the out of school care of boys and girls aged 5 to 7 years based at Ravelston.  Positions are immediately available, subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.

We require staff to work during term time in After School Club from 1.30 pm to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, a maximum of 22.5 hours per week, and 26.25 hours per week during holiday periods. The salary range is approximately £11,736 - £12,845 (pro-rata) per annum, which is at point C of the ESMS Support Staff Salary Scales, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Sports Attendant (Stewart’s Melville College)

The ESMS Sports Centre at Stewart’s Melville College are recruiting for a Sports Attendant to join our staff on a permanent basis. Positions are immediately available, subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.

Attendants have an important role to play in maintaining a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for customers. The postholder will be involved in all aspects of the activities taking place at the Sports Centre. The role will involve communicating with all kinds of people: children, adults, parents, teachers, staff, and colleagues. The postholder will demonstrate a keen interest in sport and a genuine interest in helping others.

While not essential, it would be advantageous if applicants held one or more of the following:

Remuneration will be on ESMS Support Staff B Scale (£9.25 - £9.63 per hour), with a range of additional benefits. A degree of flexibility is required in this role however we anticipate that postholders will be contracted for the following hours:

Position 1

During term time; Thursday & Friday 4.45pm-10.15pm, a total working week of 11 hours (hours depend on opening/closing times)  Holiday time shifts depend on our opening hours over the holiday but would be a minimum of 11 hours per week.

Position 2

Saturday & Sunday 8.30am-2.30pm - All year round 12 hours per week (hours depend on opening/closing times)

Position 3

During term time; Monday & Wednesday 4.45pm – 10.15pm, a total working week of 11 hours (hours depend on opening/closing times). Holiday time shifts depend on our opening hours over the holiday but would be a minimum of 11 hours per week.

Position 4

Basketball, Badminton & Hockey Coaches

The Mary Erskine School are recruiting for Basketball, Badminton and Hockey Coaches to join our staff.
