Swimming Success for ESMS

Well done to all of the ESMS swimmers who took part in the Scottish Schools Swimming Championships in East Kilbride on Friday 7th March. The schools returned with an impressive clutch of medals which included:

Gold

Megan Briggs 100 & 200 backstroke (17-19 yrs)
Daniel Lim 100 & 200 breaststroke (17-19 yrs)
Niamh Ritchie 100 backstroke (13/14 yrs)
Archie Goodburn 200 IM (13/14 yrs)
Joe Ewing 50 butterfly (12/under). Joe also won the trophy for best 12/under performance at the Meet and has recently broken two other Scottish age-group records in the 200 metre butterfly and 200 metre breaststroke.

Silver

Katy Smith 100 freestyle (13/14 yrs)

Bronze

Matthew Anderson 200 butterfly (17-19 yrs)
Alasdair Lambert 200 backstroke (17-19 yrs)

Matthew Anderson - 4th 400IM
Katy Smith - 5th 200 IM (13/14 yrs)
Fraser Meadows - 6th 200 IM (15/16 yrs)
Finlay McCutcheon - 6th 100 backstroke (13/14 yrs)
Isaac Johnston - 10th 50 freestyle (12/under)
Jamie MacDonald - 11th 200 freestyle (13/14 years)

Congratulations also to the SMC Swim Team (Daniel Lim, Matthew Anderson, Andrew Hepburn, Alasdair Lambert and Fraser Meadows) for its most outstanding performance yet in the annual Bath Cup which is arguably the premier swim meet for UK schools. Competing in the Olympic Pool in London the team won bronze in the freestyle relay and silver in the medley relay - an unprecedented performance!
