ESMS Junior School

Independent Primary School for girls and boys aged 3-11 in Edinburgh

At ESMS Junior School, we offer a broad-based primary education, anchored in our nine school values which are applied across the school from Nursery to Primary 7 (and across our Senior Schools too) at a level that is age appropriate.  We believe that an understanding of, and deep commitment to, shared values by each member of our school community is of fundamental  importance in every aspect of school life. The nine values - kindness, respect, commitment, enthusiasm, responsibility, grace, appreciation, confidence and integrity - are recognised and followed by all members of the school community and, as a result, we are confident that our boys and girls will grow up to be, in simple terms, good people who will make a positive difference to the world in which they will live and work.

Every child made to feel loved.

Take a Tour of our School

Click here to take a look around the extensive facilities and leafy grounds that our Junior School benefits from with our 360° Virtual Tour. From Nursery to Primary 3, the children are based on our Ravelston site and from Primary 4 to Primary 7, they are based at Queensferry Road.

Our parents tell us they choose our school because we:

  • Set high standards for our children – children enjoy working to high standards as they can perform to the best of their ability and develop their unique talents and skills
  • Offer fantastic opportunities across Sport, Clubs and Activities and Music and Drama
  • Have excellent facilities, some specifically designed for the Junior School and others that we share with the Senior Schools such as our state of the art Performing Arts centre, large swimming pool, tennis courts, rugby and hockey pitches and floodlit astroturfs
  • We really believe in the school values which can be seen every day in school
  • We challenge our children: whether it is overseas tours for Primary 6 and 7, residential camps from Primary 4 onwards,  Forest Kindergarten for Nursery and Primary 1, or the chance to walk 66 miles along the Forth and Clyde Canal for charity, we like to give our children the chance to stretch themselves and become more independent as they grow

We of course offer an excellent standard of academic education including specialist teaching in Music, Drama, Dance, PE, Games, French, Art and ICT. We also offer a wraparound care service from 7.50am-6pm which is available during the holidays.
