We are excited to announce that ESMS has been shortlisted for the 2024 Independent Schools of the Year Awards in three categories: Best Prep School of the Year, Best Use of Education Technology, and Rising Star of the Year. The ISOTY Awards highlight transformative and innovative projects from schools across the UK, and we are immensely proud to see our staff and students' efforts recognized this way.

Best Prep School of the Year:

Our Junior School has been shortlisted for its focus on three key pillars: academic excellence, pastoral care, and wide range of extracurricular opportunities. In particular, this year we have introduced VR Headsets to create "Virtual Safe Spaces" for our neurodiverse students, as well as introducing new "Smart School Council" software to better engage with our Pupil Voice. This tool allows the School Council to debate issues and then share their thoughts with all Junior School classes, gathering a wider range of opinions.

Best Use of Education Technology:

ESMS has also been shortlisted for the Best Use of Education Technology Award. As a Microsoft Education Global Showcase School, we are at the forefront of integrating technology into education. This year, we are particularly proud of our innovative use of immersive technology to support neurodivergent students at our Junior School and help their peers develop neuroempathy. This novel approach, led by our Head of e-Learning, Mr. Simon Luxford-Moore, along with the Digital and Support for Learning teams, has seen fantastic outcomes in our classrooms.

Rising Star of the Year:

Extraordinary students are the pride of ESMS, but this session, we are especially proud of our S5 student, Lewis Swire, who is shortlisted for the Rising Star of the Year Award. At just 17, Lewis has already received accolades for his social entrepreneurship, including founding The Curious Times, co-founding the Global Young Entrepreneur Society, and joining the Youth Advisory Board of Childnet International. Lewis will be leaving ESMS a year early to begin his BA in Modern Ballet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and we are sure to hear about his work in the future.

All of this recognition builds on our success from last year when we were named the Independent School of the Year 2023 in the Performing Arts, Music, and Drama category. We will find out the list of finalists on 9 September. Until then, please follow our social media channels to learn more about each award category.
