Summer Athletics Success

Congratulations to Stewart’s Melville College boys, Sam Brown and Calum Henderson, who were both selected in the U17 Scotland Athletics team to compete at the Schools international Athletics Board Championships in England. Both boys performed extremely well. Sam won a Bronze medal in the 800m and Calum won Gold in the Long Jump. Calum was also selected to represent Scotland at U18 level at the Celtic games in Wales where he won a Bronze medal in the 400m.

Last weekend also saw the National Athletics Championships take place at Grangemouth Stadium. SMC athletes collected an impressive total of 6 medals.

The successful boys were:

Sam Brown 5K Gold U17 800m, Calum Henderson 5G Silver U17 Long Jump, Joe Ewing 3E Silver U15 150m

Billy Doyle 4L Silver U15 200m, Bronze 300m, Isaac Johnston 1D Silver U13 High Jump.

2016 leaver Howie Bell also secured two gold medals in the U20 Long Jump and 110m Hurdles.
